Academic programs and enrollment

The academic year in Uruguay begins in March. But some degree programs start twice a year (in those cases, the academic year starts in both March and August).

Courses

All courses have a duration of 16 weeks.

Undergraduate courses (information in Spanish about workload, ECTS credits and other details):

Schedules are published a few weeks before each semester start.

For a more detailed description of the course content and required reading, you can request course syllabi from the Student Exchange Office by email.

Graduate courses

Core courses & electives

Our courses are separated into two categories: core courses and elective courses.

Core courses are offered in a specific moment of the academic year and are mandatory for degree-seeking students at Universidad ORT Uruguay.

Elective courses add flexibility to the otherwise very structured study plans.

Some courses are offered as electives in one program and as core courses in others. Those courses are offered on a regular basis.

Courses that are offered exclusively as electives go through a voting process and are confirmed on a case by case basis, a few days before the semester start.

You are allowed to combine elective and core courses without restrictions. We do not recommend taking more than five (5) courses per academic term.

Course registration

Course registration takes place once all schedules are published, generally two weeks before the semester begins.

It is done through Autoservicio Estudiantil.

Access details will be provided to you once the courses are open for registration.

You can modify your course selection during the first two weeks of classes.

After that, no changes will be permitted.

English-taught courses

International students with a sufficient command of the language can choose from a list of courses taught in English.
